“We really don’t have a need for a running back,” — Raiders coach Lane Kiffin
Yeah, but if Darren McFadden were at pick four might Oakland find space for him?
Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff says Atlanta will trade down if Jake Long and Glenn Dorsey are off the board; I believe this one. I’ve heard the Falcons really love Dorsey. And if they have Chad Henne rated high they could get more auctioning off Matt Ryan at three and then using some of their three second rounders to jump into the late first and get their QB.
The Miami Herald says the Ravens (8th) Panthers (13th) Bears (14th) and Lions (15th) are contemplating moving up to get B.C. QB Matt Ryan. Add these guys to your list for trade up partners for the 28th pick for guys like Brian Brohm and Chad Henne.
I take these things with a box of salt but if this rumor has legs pull for Jerry Jones. He’s got the most ammunition at his disposal.
You wouldn’t want to see Roy Williams in green or red.
– Let’s see:
the Redskins are looking to trade down from pick 21;
the Seahawks are talking about trading down from pick 25;
the Chargers are looking at trading down from pick 27, unless they find a highly rated OT (scroll down);
Dallas might be shopping the 28th pick, but if three teams just ahead of you are looking to trade down, I think they may find themselves stuck at 28.
– Will we have lots of trades? I think the Chiefs and Vikings will come to an agreement on DE Jared Allen later in the week. The Chiefs want a 1st and 2nd for the franchised rusher. The Vikings are offering a 1st and a 3rd. At least they’ve agreed on the 1st. One of them will blink soon. Allen doesn’t want to be in Kansas City and the Chiefs appear ready to move on without him.
If they do trade Allen, which way do they go at 5? I think they can find OT talent — they badly need an OT — at 19, where Minnesota’s pick lies.
They are one of the wild cards at five. Do they go QB if Matt Ryan is available? Do they go DL? A guy like Sedrick Ellis, whom I love, would fit their scheme. Or they they grab a guy like Chris Long if he falls? Or snare Derrick Harvey, who apparently has the Patriots’ interest? A lot of teams in the 6 - 14 range will hold their collective breaths when the Chiefs come on the clock.
