1st! Score another one for the West Coast…
Tex:
The biggest story for Tex this offseason… is to get Brady Quinn signed and in camp.
Jerry needs to offer his negotiating services in order to avoid a protracted hold-out.
Mr. Quinn needs to get his ass in camp and compete for the starting job. Heck, he needs to be named the starting QB week one - taking his lumps and learning on on the job.
Californioca:
Sorry Raf - I’m not sure what your post is about. A story elsewhere that I can’t read or the blog’s drive? Is there news there?
Californioca:
something to write about…

I enjoy reading anything that suggests the Browns are going to really suck this season. Even if it comes from the NFL analyst who most looks like Orville Redenbocker.
Here’s hoping to Crennel possibly being “in danger of losing his job by the team’s Week 7 bye”

Cali,
I feel you man, this is truly the black part of the off-season.
Turbo:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t there usually some sort of salary cap casualty date in June?
Any potential big-names to hit the market soon?
Turbo
June 1 is the date. Anyone released after that date has this year’s signing bonus proration taken against this year and the rest goes to next year (prior to June 1, all remaining bonus money would be accelerated into this year).
No big names of interest are out there that I know of.
Surrounded by Skins:
So off subject, why are the Spurs so dominate but yet have no fans….lowest ratings ever when they play in the finals. Is it because the are a true basketball team who spread the ball and play to their opponets weakness?
Sorta bitter sweet, I’m a Mavs fan…
Surrounded,
The Spurs are boring. The whole NBA is boring. When was the last time you really cared about a final? In your case, last year, I’m guessing, but it’s not just the Spurs. The fans are turning down LeBron James. The only real excitement was when Golden State knocked the 70 win softies Mavs out in the first round. The East sucks. Google “NBA Finals ratings” and read the wikipedia on that subject. The ratings today are HALF what they were in the Michael Jordan days.
Nike’s ad campaign for him after his big game vs. Detroit was “we’re all witnesses.” To history I suppose.
But nobody’s watching.
I think it’s a perfect storm of the game being subpar (the Cavs are boring too. LeBron going one on four and sometimes dishing to Daniel Gibson) and the fans reaching their limit of ABC/ESPN style hype. ESPN has been pushing James as the next big thing since he was in high school, sending Dick Vitale to cover those games.
Furhter proof that fans makes stars and the games, as much as the networks and newspapers and magazines may try to cram them down out throats.
Surrounded by Skins:
yeah…all that is very true. I will admit, i only watch mav games during regular season; maybe steve nash and the suns, but other than that the finals, but have not wanted to watch the finals this year. The East just cant hang. I really think if the other football league began and was during baseball/hockey/basketball, we could see a major sport fall to a minor sport, hockey is floating at the line right now; they cant even get a decent tv contract now.
Surrounded by Skins:
At least i have Tony Stewart and my Nascar….haha
And if all else fails…there is always my great dane and the fiance, although the wedding is in August.
Is all really over then guys?
Slide910:
The NBA and David Stern are getting what they deserve for those suspensions given to the Suns during their series against the Spurs. Actually, they deserved a Spurs-Pistons series since Detroit has no Jordan-like player, but this has turned out to be just as good.
Surrounded by Skins:
yeah….good point slide. I cant believe they allowed Nash to get man handled all series like that and then suspend two players for getting off the bench. I mean i know a rule is a rule, but come on; your teammate has been raped all series and they are just suppose to sit there when he get roughed up bad for once, no way.
Surrounded by Skins:
i wish the whole team had gotten up, then what??? Suspend the whole team?
jarhead:
Surrounded,
thats what it would take to get them to change the rule.
Its a little like the 15 vs 5 yard facemask.
last year kozier grabbed a skin’s facemask and immediately let go, then got flagged for 15. Fine, next time ill just pull him down by his facemask since you’re going to penalize me 15 for it anyway.
Surrounded by Skins:
Tony Stewart?!?!? I couldn’t root for ANY Joe Gibbs team!!
For me, I started following NASCAR in 2002 and the rookie that year was Jimmie Johnson. That was like karma, so I started following him. (Of course, my wife’s side of the family had 6 people that worked for Lowes at that time).
Tim Wilson:
Not to bring up the Champ Bailey/Terence Newman argument from a few threads back, but here’s the first paragraph from KC Joyner’s recent CB article on ESPN:
“Champ Bailey is by far the top cornerback in the NFL. His 4.7 yards per attempt total last year was the best of any cornerback in the four years I have been breaking down tape. Bailey is always the best cornerback on the field no matter who lines up on the other side of him.”
(Alright, maybe it is bringing up an old argument, but it’s a slow day on the Blog. Sue me.)
Squidlo97:
Tim, you just had to go and stir the pot. LOL
